Boat Trips & Boat Hire
The maritime laws in Crete are very strict and it is therefore impossible to rent a boat with an engine for private use on the north coast but it is possible on the south coast (see full details below). On the north coast there are a choice of day cruises available to different destinations including the incomparable Balos Lagoon, and the island of Santorini.

We offer you a choice of hiring a private motor boat from either Almyrida, Kalives, or Chania harbours on the North Coast, or you can hire a motor boat on the south coast (just over 1 hour by car from the Almyrida area). Having your own motor boat will give you the chance to explore and go to quiet beaches that are only accessible by boat in addition to more popular locations. Souda Bay on the east side of Chania has beaches, sea caves and inlets including Ombrosgialos turquoise cove that is soon to be a marine park, or Chania Bay on the west side of Chania with beaches and islands including Maherida, Theodorou (a sanctuary for the Kri-Kri goat), Lazaretta, and Menies, and the Rodopou and Gramvoussa Peninsulas.
If you are looking for a very special day out we offer the choice of 2 sail boats for an idyllic, relaxing day of sailing, snorkeling and fishing. There is a 12.27m Elan 410 sail boat which can accommodate up to 9 passengers, and an 11m Dormer sail boat which can accommodate up to 8 passengers.
Different Full Day Itineraries are available including destinations of your choosing. The most popular day out is the Chania Bay Full Day Cruise. Starting in the old harbour of Chania the boat will spend the entire day in the Chania Bay area - Macherida Beach, Theodorou Island, and/or Menies Beach. During the day there are stops at secluded inlets that are only accessible by boat and many stops for swimming, fishing and snorkeling in the crystal clear turquoise sea.
If you are looking for a very special day out we offer the choice of 2 sail boats for an idyllic, relaxing day of sailing, snorkeling and fishing. There is a 12.27m Elan 410 sail boat which can accommodate up to 9 passengers, and an 11m Dormer sail boat which can accommodate up to 8 passengers.
Private excursions are also available on motor boats with a captain. A variety of itineraries are available including a full moon trip for dinner, or overnight camping on Gavdos island - the most southerly point in Europe.
A very enjoyable and safe boat trip runs approximately every 2 hours during high season and once a day during low season. Dream Adventure Trips run a large speedboat called “Ektor”from Almyrida around Souda Bay, and include a visit to the local sea caves.
This delightful excursion takes you by coach to the port of Kissamos-Kastelli where you board a boat which takes about 1 hour to cross the bay of Kissamos, passing the ancient shipyards of Tarsanas, to the incomparable Balos Lagoon. (All other trips to Gramvousa go to Balos in the afternoon, we go in the morning in order to avoid the crowds).
An exceptionally fun day out which offers something for every member of the family. This daily cruise (from 10:00 to 16:45) allows the adults to sit back, relax and enjoy a wonderful sightseeing experience of the waters and coastline of Souda Bay, whilst the children laugh and play under the watchful eye of the friendly crew who are expert at triggering the imagination and creativity of the children, and are all dressed as pirates.
